# The Ecrox Blockchain

## Network Overview and Key Metrics

Ecrox Chain serves as the decentralized, Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible public blockchain that underpins the entire Ecrox platform and ecosystem. This compatibility ensures that any smart contract deployable on Ethereum can seamlessly function on Ecrox as well.

Utilizing a variant of Delegated Proof of Stake (dPoS) for consensus, Ecrox Chain relies on a network of independent validators, with only one managed by the Ecrox core team. These validators play a crucial role in governance, particularly in adopting network protocol changes via Ecrox Improvement Proposals (FIPs).

The platform's native token, ECROX, is integral to its operations. Newly minted ECROX Coins accompany each added block and serve as the gas fee, akin to ETH on Ethereum, for executing transactions.

Designed for efficiency, Ecrox Chain boasts swift block confirmation times and economical transactions. With an average block interval of approximately 3 seconds, transaction costs are currently below $0.01, ensuring accessibility and affordability for users.

In its current state, Ecrox Chain can handle around 20 lakh transactions per second (TPS). This remarkable throughput is achieved primarily because native token transfers do not require computational processes on the network's virtual machine, contributing to the platform's speed and scalability.

# Ecrox Consensus

Consensus in blockchain networks involves nodes agreeing on which transactions should be included in the next block before they are permanently added to the chain. This process encompasses both the consensus mechanism for adding transactions to blocks and measures for Sybil protection and incentivizing validators.

**Sybil Protection and Incentives via Delegated Proof of Stake (dPoS)**: Ecrox implements delegated Proof of Stake (dPoS) to safeguard against Sybil attacks and align validator incentives. To participate in network consensus, a node operator must stake a minimum amount of ECROX Coins (currently set at 100,000 ECROX). Validator selection is permissionless, requiring only fulfillment of technical criteria. Staking ECROX prevents an entity from creating multiple validators without significant cost, ensuring Sybil protection. The network currently accommodates up to 5000 validators.

Validators earn rewards in newly minted ECROX Coins and transaction fees for publishing agreed-upon blocks. Their block-publishing frequency corresponds to their stake share, which can be increased through attracting more ECROX Coins from delegators. Violating consensus rules results in stake freezing, including contributions from delegators, incentivizing validators to comply.

**AuRa Consensus Model**: Ecrox utilizes Parity's AuRa (Authority Round) consensus model, also used by the xDAI blockchain, to append blocks. Validators rotate in signing blocks, which are broadcast to all validators for validation. A majority consensus validates a block, adding it to the chain every 5 seconds, regardless of transaction frequency.

While achieving transaction finality theoretically may take time, practically, a transaction on Ecrox is considered finalized after a single block confirmation, ensuring efficient and reliable transaction processing.

\\

# Delegation through Staking with Validators

As elaborated earlier, Ecrox validators can expand their share of the consensus stake by attracting funds from users who opt not to run validator nodes, known as "delegators." Delegators have the freedom to select any validator(s) and stake any amount of ECROX with them through the Ecrox Staking platform for participation.

When a delegator stakes ECROX with a validator, they receive a portion of Ecrox block rewards proportional to their stake, minus the fee paid to the validator. The minimum fee currently stands at 5%, a deliberate measure to prevent excessive consolidation among validators by discouraging very low delegation fees.

Presently, delegators retain the option to unstake their ECROX at any time. However, there are plans underway to introduce a minimum staking period to enhance network stability and incentivize longer-term participation.

# Ethereum (EVM) Compatibility and Smart Contracts

In addition to processing transactions, Ecrox nodes also permanently store and update the code and current state of smart contracts. Smart contracts, essentially persistent scripts, are computer programs that individuals can interact with by sending transactions to invoke their functions. These contracts also have their own accounts capable of holding token balances.

On Ecrox nodes, smart contracts operate within a specialized environment known as the 'virtual machine' (VM). The Ecrox blockchain is currently highly compatible with Ethereum's virtual machine (EVM), ensuring seamless functionality for smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps) deployed on Ethereum or other EVM-compatible chains. This compatibility extends to standards such as ECROX-20 and ECROX-721, meaning these contracts can operate on Ecrox without requiring modifications to their code.

In essence, any smart contract or dApp deployable on Ethereum or a compatible chain can also run effectively on Ecrox, facilitating interoperability and expanding the potential applications within the Ecrox ecosystem.

# Boosting Ecrox's Scalability

Scalability poses a universal challenge for public blockchains, and Ecrox is actively addressing this issue. Despite the current capacity of the Ecrox blockchain to manage incoming transactions, the project team acknowledges the potential for increased demand in the future.

To enhance scalability while maintaining decentralization and security, the Ecrox team has been exploring various options. One approach under close consideration is optimistic rollups. Extensive research is being conducted on available solutions, including Arbitrum and Optimism. The team aims to provide updates to the community regarding the progress and future direction of these scalability efforts in the near future.

# Ecrox Coin (ECROX)

ECROX Coins serve as the native currency of the Ecrox blockchain and platform, akin to ETH on Ethereum. Here's a breakdown of their utility:

1. **Transaction Fees**: ECROX is required for paying network fees to validate transactions on the Ecrox blockchain.
2. **Validation**: Token holders can stake ECROX to become validators, contributing to network security and consensus. The minimum staking requirement is currently set at 100K ECROX.
3. **Voting**: Validators utilize their staked ECROX for voting on protocol changes and governance decisions within the network.
4. **Staking for Delegators**: ECROX holders can delegate their tokens to validators of their choice. Delegators receive a portion of block rewards proportional to their stake, minus a minimum 5% fee paid to validators.
5. **Payments**: ECROX transfers are fast and cost-effective, as they don't require interactions with smart contracts, making them ideal for regular payments.

It's important to note that mere possession of ECROX does not grant rights to participate in platform governance or revenue streams.

**Acquiring ECROX**:

* **Buying**: ECROX is available on various centralized (CEX) and decentralized (DEX) exchanges like Gate.io, Uniswap, PancakeSwap, Quickswap, and Voltage DEX. The Coingecko "Markets" page provides comprehensive information on trading volumes and prices.
* **Farming**: The ECROX token is used in liquidity rewards programs (yield farming) to enhance liquidity on DEXes and participation in the Ecrox Lending Network. Details about ongoing programs can be found on the Ecrox website.
* **Community Rewards**: The Ecrox team occasionally rewards community members with ECROX for active participation and engagement. Stay updated through Ecrox's social channels for these opportunities.
* **Grants and Bounties**: ECROX powers Ecrox grants and bounty programs. Refer to the Grants and Bounties section on Ecrox's platform for more information.

# ECROX Tokenomics

The ECROX token supply adheres to a mildly inflationary model, with new tokens issued as block rewards every 3 seconds on Ecrox. Validators who create blocks and their delegators receive these rewards, ensuring the security of the network's consensus mechanism.

Currently, the reward amount per block is calibrated such that the ECROX total supply increases by approximately 5% annually. This inflationary model was chosen initially to provide a predictable revenue flow for validators and delegators. Relying solely on transaction fees could lead to unpredictable returns due to fluctuations in network activity.

Moreover, substantial block rewards help maintain low transaction fees, fostering Ecrox adoption.

A proposal to reduce ECROX inflation is under community discussion. If approved by validators, it will lower the annual inflation rate to 2% starting from the network's third year. Subsequent years will see a fixed amount of tokens issued. This proposal aims to balance inflation with sustainable network growth.

You can access the proposal text and ongoing discussion on <support@ecroxcoin.io>

# ECROX on Other Chains

Interoperability with major blockchains is crucial for Ecrox's growth and vision. One method to achieve this is by enabling wrapped versions of ECROX tokens on other chains.

Unlike ECROX tokens on Ecrox, these wrapped tokens, known as ECROX-20 tokens, are created when a user locks a specific quantity of tokens on Ecrox. In return, they receive an equal amount of wrapper tokens on the target blockchain. When a user withdraws these wrapper tokens from the target blockchain, the corresponding tokens are burned, and the locked ECROX Coins on Ecrox are unlocked.

Currently, wrapped versions of ECROX tokens are available on Ethereum (mainnet), Binance Smart Chain, and Arbitrum One (a layer-2 optimistic rollup chain for Ethereum). The Arbitrum version is unique as it's a wrapper of a wrapper facilitated by the Ethereum-Arbitrum bridge, and withdrawals from Arbitrum are governed by optimistic rollup rules.

This interoperability enhances Ecrox's accessibility and utility across different blockchain ecosystems, broadening its reach and potential use cases.

# Interoperability

Here, you can find the information that can help you navigate the interoperability options that you can use to transfer tokens to and from the Ecrox blockchain.

The Ecrox team is committed to promoting interoperability among public blockchains, recognizing that no single platform is likely to achieve complete dominance in the future. Therefore, solutions that facilitate seamless transfers between Ecrox and other blockchains are essential for the sustained growth of the Ecrox platform and ecosystem.

Significant progress has been made by the Ecrox team in securing partnerships with leading operators. Presently, the Ecrox blockchain is linked to other blockchains through the following multichain bridges and value transfer protocols:

1. **Ecrox Cross Bridge**: This bridge serves as a vital connection point, enabling smooth transfers between Ecrox and other blockchain networks.
2. **Ecrox Finance Value Transfer Protocol**: This protocol plays a crucial role in facilitating value transfers across different blockchains, enhancing interoperability and accessibility for Ecrox users.

These interoperability solutions are fundamental to expanding Ecrox's reach and utility, fostering collaboration with diverse blockchain ecosystems and contributing to the overall growth and resilience of the platform.

### &#x20;Ecrox Token Bridge

The Ecrox Cross bridge was initially developed by the Ecrox team and has since been transitioned to the community-governed Ecrox Bridge. This bridge serves as a vital link connecting Ecrox to both Ethereum and Binance Smart Chain (BSC). Notably, both bridges operate on a custodial basis.

The Ethereum bridge is permissionless, allowing seamless integration with the Ethereum blockchain. However, for the BSC bridge, new tokens must undergo an addition process.

When transferring tokens from Ethereum or Binance Smart Chain to Ecrox via these bridges, users are not subjected to any fees or limits. However, withdrawals from Ecrox using the bridge incur a 0.05% fee based on the bridged amount. Additionally, users must cover fees on the destination chain to successfully claim their tokens from the bridge contract during the final transfer stage.

Access to the bridge is facilitated through the Ecrox Bridge App, providing a user-friendly interface for managing cross-chain transactions. For more detailed information on the bridge's functionality, please refer to this link. Furthermore, comprehensive tutorials on utilizing the Ecrox bridging system can be found here. [https://bridge.ecroxscan.com](https://bridge.ecroxscan.com/)

# Ecrox Governance and Development

Ecrox has made significant strides towards decentralization and aims to achieve full community control in the future. Currently, its governance is divided among the following entities:

1. **Network Validators**: Ecrox validators play a pivotal role in deciding whether to adopt Ecrox Improvement Proposals (FIPs). Presently, each validator holds one vote, irrespective of their share of the overall network stake. However, there are plans to revise this voting system soon.
2. **Ecrox Foundation and Project Team**: At this initial development stage, the Ecrox Foundation, managed by the Gibraltar-incorporated company Ecrox Limited, oversees the core network protocol and the Ecrox treasury, primarily composed of undistributed genesis ECROX supply. The Ecrox Foundation employs the project team, whose profiles can be found here.

The project team is responsible for implementing network protocol updates adopted by validators, managing other protocol changes not requiring validator votes, maintaining full node software, developing mobile-centric infrastructure for token communities, enhancing network adoption through technological advancements, partnerships, ecosystem onboarding, and marketing efforts within the crypto space and beyond.

It's important to note that, being a decentralized public blockchain, no permission from the project team is necessary for integration or development on Ecrox, including network and node software development.

3. **Ecrox Assembly**: Detailed information about the Ecrox Assembly can be found on the Assembly page for those interested.

Overall, Ecrox is on a path towards increased decentralization and community-driven governance, fostering transparency, participation, and inclusivity within its ecosystem.

The Ecrox Improvement Proposal

### What is a FIP?

FIP stands for Ecrox Improvement Proposal. A FIP is a design document providing information to the Ecrox community, or describing a new feature for Ecrox. The FIP should provide motivation and technical specification for the feature.

# Ecrox Consensus

Consensus plays a crucial role in blockchain systems by ensuring agreement on the network's single state. In the Ecrox network, we utilize a Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) consensus model, a variant of the Proof of Stake (PoS) mechanism. Here's a brief overview:

1. **Proof of Stake (PoS)**: In PoS, a group of validators is responsible for maintaining and validating the network's state. Validators take turns updating the state, with each validator having its designated slot in the rotation. When it's their turn, a validator updates the network's state, and other validators verify the update for validity.
2. **Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS)**: DPoS introduces a delegation system where token holders can delegate their tokens to specific validators. These elected validators then perform the network validation tasks. DPoS aims to enhance scalability and efficiency by reducing the number of validators actively participating in the consensus process.

In the Ecrox network, DPoS ensures fault tolerance and efficient agreement on the network's state, contributing to the overall reliability and performance of the blockchain ecosystem.

The Consensus contract plays a crucial role in managing the network's validators and delegators, maintaining an updated list of participants actively involved in securing the network.

The BlockReward contract is responsible for calculating the rewards distributed to validators and delegators during block validation. These rewards are proportionate to the validator's stake, incentivizing active participation and contribution to network security.

The Voting contract facilitates decision-making within the network, allowing validators to vote on proposed changes related to the Consensus, BlockReward, and other fundamental contracts. These contracts are proxied with implementations that handle their logic, ensuring transparency and security. Any changes to these implementations can only be made through the formal Voting process, ensuring democratic governance and consensus.

Additionally, the bridge serves as a vital link between the Ecrox and Ethereum networks, enabling seamless transfer of the native Ecrox token between the two platforms. This interoperability enhances accessibility and liquidity, fostering a connected and vibrant blockchain ecosystem.

This contract plays a crucial role in managing the network's Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) consensus mechanism. Its primary functions include storing the current set of validators and selecting a new validator set at the end of each cycle. The selection process for updating the validator set involves choosing a random snapshot from the snapshots captured during the cycle.

Furthermore, the contract is responsible for handling various actions related to staking, delegating, and withdrawing funds for validators. Here's a breakdown of its responsibilities:

1. **Validator Set Management**: The contract stores information about the current validators who participate in securing the network through staking and validating transactions.
2. **Cycle Updates**: At the end of each cycle, the contract updates the validator set by selecting a random snapshot from the snapshots taken during the cycle. This ensures a fair and decentralized process for validator selection.
3. **Snapshot Creation**: The contract captures snapshots of pending validators during the cycle. Pending validators are those who have staked an amount exceeding the minimum stake required to become a network validator.
4. **Staking**: Validators and delegators can stake their funds through this contract. The stake amount for a validator includes both the amount staked directly and the amount delegated to its address.
5. **Delegating**: Delegators can delegate their funds to validators of their choice. This allows for broader participation in the consensus mechanism and rewards distribution.
6. **Withdrawing Funds**: Validators and delegators can withdraw their staked or delegated funds when needed. This functionality ensures liquidity and flexibility for participants in the network.

Overall, this contract serves as a pivotal component in maintaining the integrity, decentralization, and efficiency of the network's DPoS consensus mechanism while facilitating stake management and delegation processes.

This contract is based on `non-reporting ValidatorSet` [described in Parity Wiki](https://wiki.parity.io/Validator-Set.html#non-reporting-contract).

This contract is responsible for generating and distributing block rewards to the network validators according to the network specs (5% yearly inflation).

Another role of this contract is to call the snapshot/cycle logic on the Consensus contract

This contract is based on `BlockReward` [described in Parity Wiki](https://wiki.parity.io/Block-Reward-Contract).

This contract is responsible for opening new ballots and voting to accept/reject them. Ballots are basically offers to change other network contracts implementation.

Only network validators can open new ballots, everyone can vote on them, but only validators votes count when the ballot is closed.

Ballots are opened/closed on cycle end.

# Stake, Delegate and Withdraw

The basic requirement to become a Ecrox chain validator is to have a stake amount of at least 100,000 Ecrox Coins. The stake amount is the sum of staked and delegated Ecrox Coins of the address. This guide walks trough the process of using MEW (MyEtherWallet.com) in the process of using Ecrox network.**Roadmap** - Those functionalities will be built into our Studio and will not require any technical knowledge in the future.

## Stake <a href="#stake" id="stake"></a>

There are two options to stake (both should be called from the address which would be the validator)

1. 1.Send Ecrox Coins to the [consensus contract](https://ecroxscan.com/address/0x2954AE5845B7Bb96e2147458926031a02D33C6E7) - 0x2954AE5845B7Bb96e2147458926031a02D33C6E7 on the Ecrox Chain network.
2. 2.Call the \`stake\` function on the [consensus contract](https://ecroxscan.com/address/0x2954AE5845B7Bb96e2147458926031a02D33C6E7) - 0x2954AE5845B7Bb96e2147458926031a02D33C6E7 on the Ecrox Chain network.

## Delegate <a href="#delegate" id="delegate"></a>

Ecrox Coins holders who don't want to run a node by themselves but still wish to participate in governing the network can delegate any amount to one of the validators.Delegating is done by calling the \`delegate\` function on the [consensus contract](https://ecroxscan.com/address/0x2954AE5845B7Bb96e2147458926031a02D33C6E7) with the validator address as data (see screenshot from MEW).

![delegate](https://3886961007-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F-MQROvzQPC4eD8u5AQhv%2Fuploads%2FfW2bi43f3TMgmwzi7wSZ%2Fimage.png?alt=media\&token=f30eb8a1-ff40-4f1e-9f73-89466ea2c83e)

## Withdraw <a href="#withdraw" id="withdraw"></a>

Both stakers and validators can withdraw their Ecrox Coins, up to the staked/delegated amount, at any time. The withdrawn amount will be deducted from the validator stake amount, and if the stake amount becomes below the minimum stake amount - the validator will be removed from the Ecrox chain validators list. There are two options to withdraw:

1. 1.Call the \`withdraw\` function on the [consensus contract](https://ecroxscan.com/address/0x2954AE5845B7Bb96e2147458926031a02D33C6E7) with one parameter - the amount to withdraw. This call is for stakers, and will reduce the stake amount of the sender address.
2. 2.Call the \`withdraw\` function on the [consensus contract](https://ecroxscan.com/address/0x2954AE5845B7Bb96e2147458926031a02D33C6E7) with two parameters - validator address and amount to withdraw. This call is for both stakers (who can use their own address as the parameter) and for delegators to withdraw their delegated stake on a specific validator.

# Vote

Ecrox chain functionality can be change by voting on the contracts implementations. New implementations can be deployed, and opened to vote by validators for others to decide on whether to accept/reject the changes.

## Open a new ballot

In order to open a new vote, a validator needs to call the \`newBallot\` function on the [voting contract](https://ecroxscan.com/address/0x74942BD53217F7C59C2cC4e077DF4698a86E10eB) with the following params:

* startAfterNumberOfCycles - number of cycles (minimum 1) after which the ballot is open for voting
* cyclesDuration - number of cycles (minimum 2) for the ballot to remain open for voting
* contractType
  * 1 - Consensus
  * 2 - BlockReward
  * 3 - ProxyStorage
  * 4 - Voting
* proposedValue - address of the new implementation deployed for the relevant contract type
* description - text description which should contain the reason/change introduced in the ballot

![new ballot](https://907857713-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F4lx06BJBDdtE98Mhq7B8%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-8490523237498c068770bb650df99ec5ec1d5374%2Fimage%20\(5\).png?alt=media)

## Check ballot info

Everyone can check all the ballots that were created using the \`getBallotInfo\` function. This function receives two params:

* id - the ballot id
* key - account address

![getBallotInfo](https://907857713-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F4lx06BJBDdtE98Mhq7B8%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-a70c7f1d489bacb88972f66660a5cb336b7e171a%2Fimage%20\(2\).png?alt=media)

## Vote

Everyone can vote on open ballots, after the start block has passed and until the end block hasn't yet.

It's important to note that at the end of a vote, only validators count towards the final result.

Voting is done by calling the \`vote\` function, which receives two params:

* id - the ballot id
* choice - 1 is accept, 2 is reject

![vote](https://907857713-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F4lx06BJBDdtE98Mhq7B8%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-c39e3d5a6537e15ff00b02e364f7eeb247e5d812%2Fimage.png?alt=media)

Some other useful functions on the [voting contract](https://ecroxscan.com/address/0x74942BD53217F7C59C2cC4e077DF4698a86E10eB) are:

## getQuorumState

Returns the state of a specific ballot id: 1 - in progress, 2 - accepted, 3 - rejected

## getAccepted/getRejected

Returns the number of accepts/reject of a specific ballot id.

## activeBallots

Returns an array of active ballot ids.

# End-of-Cycle Flow

This is a description of the End-of-Cycle flow that completes the Cycle and handles rewards and enforces the consensus

BlockReward.reward is invoked every block, and upon the cycle's completion, it triggers the Consensus.cycle function. Consensus.cycle is responsible for various actions, with two critical tasks being:

1. Setting the boolean Consensus.ShouldEmitInitiateChange to true.
2. Invoking BlockReward.onCycleEnd, which in turn sets the boolean BlockReward.shouldEmitRewardedOnCycle to true.

The Ecrox-validator-app (a component within the Ecrox container on validator virtual machines) monitors the aforementioned booleans. When they are true, the following functions are called in separate transactions (one per function):

1. Consensus.emitInitiateChange
2. BlockReward.emitRewardedOnCycle

It's important to note that only one validator can successfully execute these calls, with others failing. However, since these are zero-gas transactions, the next validator in line to validate a block is usually the successful one.

These function calls emit corresponding events:

1. Consensus.InitiateChange
2. BlockReward.RewardedOnCycle

The bridge oracles ecroxoracle-initiate-change and ecroxoracle-rewarded-on-cycle are designed to listen for these events. These oracles should run on all validators and interact with the HomeBridgeNativeToErc contract on the Ecrox network by calling submitSignature. Each validator should submit a signature for each event.

Once a sufficient number of validators (a majority of the current validators) have submitted their signatures, the home bridge emits an event called CollectedSignatures (one event for each previous event mentioned).

The bridge oracle ecroxoracle-collected-signatures listens for CollectedSignature events, and all validators should receive it. The validator responsible for transmitting the transaction to the mainnet is the last one to submit the signature in section 7. Other validator oracles skip this event because the transmitting responsibility is clearly defined by the event details.

On the mainnet, two transactions should be observed at the ForeignBridgeNativeToErc contract each cycle: one updating the new validators and another minting Ecrox Coins generated during that cycle on the Ecrox Chain.

It's worth noting that if the new validator set transactions fail on the mainnet, there's a risk of the minting transaction failing too. This can occur if new validators submit their signatures promptly on the Ecrox Chain but aren't updated on the mainnet due to failed initial transactions, leading to invalid signatures from the mainnet perspective in the second transaction.

# WalletConnect on Ecrox

[WalletConnect](https://walletconnect.com) is an **open-source protocol for data exchange between wallets and decentralized applications (dApps)**. The process takes place via a specialized server and the flow of data is encrypted in both directions.

From the user’s perspective, although the exact details may vary from wallet to wallet, there are two ways of using WalletConnect. In the mobile-to-mobile mode, the user opens the website of the dApp that they are interested in, clicks the “connect wallet” tab there and chooses their preferred wallet. The desktop-to-mobile approach involves using the Wallet Connect-enabled wallet on the mobile phone to scan the QR code of the dApp displayed in the desktop browser. After the session, the dApp may be disconnected, and users are even advised to disconnect dApps for security reasons.

For developers who wish to integrate the WalletConnect functionality into their dApps running on Ecrox, we recommend using [this library](https://www.npmjs.com/package/@fuseio/walletconnect-web3-provider).

# How to become a validator

The Ecrox network operates through validator nodes hosted by participants worldwide. It offers entrepreneurs a seamless integration for payments into their products and facilitates user onboarding to a platform that enables payments, transactions, and financial services in various currencies.

Access to the network is public, and the code is open-source, allowing customization and localization as needed. Communities on the Ecrox chain pay a fee to validators for validating transactions, with more usage leading to increased rewards for validators, thus incentivizing network growth.

Being a validator means holding Ecrox tokens and running a node that validates transactions on the network. Validators use special software to validate and sign transactions every 5 seconds, earning block rewards in the form of Ecrox tokens. A yearly inflation of 5% is distributed among all validators.

Validators contribute resources to maintain the network, need technical knowledge for hosting the software, and participate in network governance through voting. They play a crucial role in maintaining and steering the network's future through governance mechanisms.

Who should become a validator?

1. Companies building on the network can collaborate using Ecrox's open-source stack, becoming stakeholders and earning rewards as the network grows.
2. 3rd-party service providers like KYC, exchanges, lenders, etc., can become stakeholders, facilitating cross-blockchain transactions without intermediaries.
3. Community operators on Ecrox can upgrade to validators, providing better access to clients.

Who can become a validator (Technical requirements):

* Minimum 100K tokens staked or delegated, locked in a contract.
* Running a full node with blockchain and web hosting knowledge.

Who shouldn’t become a validator:

* Non-technical users or holders looking for passive involvement.
* Simple holders can delegate their Ecrox tokens to validators to earn rewards without becoming validators themselves.

How to become a validator:

1. Stake or delegate a minimum of 100K Ecrox tokens.
2. Lock tokens in a contract.
3. Run a full node with technical expertise in blockchain and web hosting.

This approach fosters active participation, collaboration, and growth within the Ecrox network, aligning stakeholders' interests in network operation and governance.

# Getting started as a validator

## Pre-requirements

In order to be a Ecrox validator, you first must see that you meet the pre-requirements:
